Update on Grace HainesFrom her Dad, Chris Haines Three years ago last week was the worst day of my life. And even worse for my daughter. While out for a run, Grace was hit by a car and left with a traumatic brain injury. After a 2 week coma, she was unable to move the left side of her body and spend the next few months in a rehab hospital, followed by another year of out-patient rehab that forced her to defer starting university by a year. Thanks to great doctors and physiotherapy, she has made a remarkable recovery. Brain injuries are serious and Grace will always have issues stemming from hers, however her resilience has been incredible. In September of 2022, Grace was able to finally start her post secondary education at Queen's University in Kingston. While she was originally accepted there to study engineering, she made a decision to switch to kinesiology in order to pursue a career in physiotherapy to be able to help others who suffer injuries that take away their movement. After initially starting with a reduced course load to help her manage tiredness and a challenged memory, she has now been able to move to a full course schedule in her second year. So here is my ask. Grace is looking for full time summer employment in either Toronto or Vancouver. She would love to work for a physiotherapy clinic, but will consider any full time role in an office/clinic setting. Grace is a hard worker who has held a job ever since she was 14, when she started as a hostess at a local breakfast diner in North Vancouver. She even works today part time as a server in Kingston. Her goal for this summer is to get more administrative-focused experience, with any physiotherapy experience being a bonus. If you or anyone you know might be interested in hiring an intelligent, hard-working, and resilient young lady, then send me an email: hainesy@gmail.com |
