A HUMONGOUS thank you to everyone who has sent funds and pledges for the sponsorship of Sarah. In less than two weeks we have reached our goal and we have enough money for her sponsorship. AMAZING!
If you were planning to give money and have not yet had a chance, have no fear! Your funds will be put to excellent use. We already have fundraising started for Chance, Lidine, and Julie, now waiting in Uganda. We have raised 10,000 for their sponsorship and their family, who do not have "extra" money, have pledged to find the remaining $10,000. The family will make sure there is enough, but money we can raise will reduce the financial pressure on this hard working family. They have already had other family members die in the camp, so they are determined to get the women to safety.
This picture shows Chance and her daughter Julie. Julie is 10 years old and dreams of becoming a nurse. Her mother, Chance, has contracted Encephalitis in the camp, which is very painful and has affected her mobility. She has received treatment, so the disease should not get worse, but there is no cure. One day Chance hopes to become a community worker.
Chance's younger sister, Lidine (in blue dress), dreams of becoming an advocate for mistreated women.
These are courageous young women who dream of living a life where they can help other people. Chance and Lidine's father and uncle live here, in Surrey, as well as their younger siblings, so they have an excellent support network when they arrive.
Thank you so much to everyone for your ongoing support. We will use every penny to help these wonderful women and we look forward to their arrival in Canada!
